Counseling and You

March 11, 2025

OARS is pleased to share that we’re now scheduling appointments for our counseling services!

This expansion of services means that we’re able to continue to give quality care for all of our patients. Our goal is to meet our patients, no matter where they are in their recovery, and help them live an addiction-free life.

Counseling is a crucial part of treatment for substance use disorders. Substance use disorders are more than a physical dependence on drugs. Certain psychological and social factors can be triggers that can lead to relapse. Did you know that in 2017, according to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, an estimated 20.7 million people age 12 and older needed treatment for a substance use disorder? Only 4 million people received treatment, or about 19% of those who needed it. In that same year, of the more than 18 million people who needed but did not receive treatment for substance use, only 1 million, or 5.7%, of those people felt they needed treatment.

Counseling, in addition to other courses of treatment, helps patients work through trauma they’ve experienced, teaches coping strategies that redirect patients from bad habits, and develops life skills without reaching for drugs and/or alcohol.

There are several types of treatments available such as:

We understand that treatment is not one-size-fits-all. That’s why we work with each of our patients to understand their wants and needs and then work with them to find the appropriate treatment that is best for them.

We can help you, too. For information about our resources, give us a call at 724-912-6277 to learn more about our counseling services and treatment options that may be available to you.
